Yoga.

It doesn’t have to be intimidating. It doesn’t have to be overly complicated, either. Moreover, yoga’s not just for women, doesn’t cater to the flexible, and doesn’t have to involve a shift in your belief system. So that’s probably the first thing you need to know about me, and my philosophy towards yoga: I’m focused on tearing down the stereotypes. So if you’re hesitant to try yoga due to some of these false perceptions, I’m here to tell you that you’re making a mistake. And I’m telling you that from my own experience.

I’ve been a long-distance runner for over 20 years, and I’ve completed numerous triathlons as well. Over time the wear and tear on my body caused lower back and hamstring pain that simply wouldn’t go away. After a myriad of medical options that were largely unsuccessful, my wife finally dragged me to a yoga class—at the venerable Yoga One in Charlotte, which became my home away from home—for the first time. Later, after I had committed to yoga fully, my aches and pains slowly went away. That was amazing enough, but what I found even more astonishing was the fact that I was stronger than ever, physically and mentally. And my results in marathons and triathlons proved it.

My love of  yoga, and my belief in its results, led me to enter teacher training at Yoga One, the studio where I had spent the bulk of my time practicing. Once I had completed my 200-hour teacher certification training there I knew what my calling was: to make yoga more approachable, especially for the uninitiated. Obviously, looking back, I wish I had found yoga sooner. But why waste time on regrets that I can’t change? Instead, my new focus is on finding people who were just like me: afraid to approach something they didn’t fully understand, but something that has the power to be transformative.

While I obviously have a soft spot for the beginner, I am capable of offering intermediate and advanced instruction, too. I can tailor any class to your needs, be it for private instruction, small groups, athletic teams, corporate groups, or traditional studio classes. Yoga can be molded to any person, and for any situation. Let me know what you want to gain from your yoga practice, and together we’ll form a game plan that’s suitable for you.
